Currents of Love: Aligning with the Laws of the Heart
May 4 (Friday, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.)
May 5 (Saturday, 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.)
May 6 (Sunday, 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.)
The classic yoga texts of yoga offer us many lists of suggested attitudes. Attitudes like friendliness, compassion, sympathetic joy, neutrality, wonderment, and curiosity weave through many of the stories and texts. We are also offered methods of behavior (yamas) like non-violation, truthfulness, non-stealing, non-grasping and containment. How does a yogi know if s/he is on the right track?
We will slip into the subtle realm allowing our pranic experience of these attitudes to guide our asana, pranayama and meditation.
May 4, Friday night: Intimacy with our Internal Landscape
With the attitudes of curiosity and wonderment, we will turn our attention to the relationship of awareness, prana and breath. This will help us establish the ground of non-violation (ahimsa) and non-stealing (asteya) to allow for safety and freedom in our self investigation. Practice will be slow, tender and deep and accessible to a variety of levels.
May 5, Saturday afternoon: Willingness to Surrender
Playing with pranayama and mantra we will study the paradox of cultivating our willingness to surrender. We will incorporate an understanding of self-discipline (tapas), non-grasping (aprigrapha) and devotion (ishvara pranadam). Practice will be active and accessible to a variety of levels.
May 6, Sunday Afternoon: Generously Available
We will increase our capacity for the yogis question of “Ko Hum?” or “Who am I?” With an interest in making room for our whole selves, our practice will emphasize the practice of vigilant vulnerability, tenderness and compassion. We will rely on the techniques of mantra, pranayama and asana. Practice will be accessible to a variety of levels.
Workshops may be taken individually, although attendance at all three is highly recommended.
The fee is ¥5,000 per workshop or ¥13,000 for all three workshops.
