New Classes & Teachers in 2012
Our 2012 schedule will feature a few new classes and the addition of a new teacher, Junko Hanzawa. Like many of Yoga Tree teachers, Junko studies with Maty Ezraty and Chuck Miller, and their approach is reflected in her teaching. Beginning on January 15, Junko will teach Vinyasa Level 1-2 on Sundays from noon to 1:30 p.m.
David France will also have a new class: Freestyle Vinyasa Yoga on Mondays from 11:30 - 1:00 p.m. Freestyle Yoga is David’s original way of teaching movement and the balancing of energy. This unique class is dynamic and engaging, and offers students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of body, mind and health.
Lastly, please note that our Monday evening class will change. Starting January, Mikiko Yatabe will teach Hatha I-II from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.
The Morning Practice with Maneesh Kalra
On Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 6:30 - 9:00, Maneesh Kalra conducts an early morning practice based on the “Mysore” approach of Chuck Miller and Maty Ezraty. Many morning-practice students adhere to the Ashtanga Primary sequence, but everyone is welcome to do their own self-practice. For students new to yoga or seeking to learn alignment-focused, breath-centered hatha yoga, Maneesh offers hands-on instruction. Drop-ins are welcome. The cost is ¥2,500 per class, or ¥12,000 for a monthly pass.
NOTE: In the event of a full class, priority is given to pass holders.
Universal Healing Tao with Ben Robins
Every Thursday afternoon from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m., Ben Robins teach a Universal Healing Tao class. Including both physical practice and theoretical explanations of the system, Ben devotes the first hour to a Qiqong warm-up sequence of movement and breathing exercises to activate chi circulation; tendon strengthening exercises and organ detoxification; and basic Iron Shirt Qiqong postures to help develop grounding and bring a deeper awareness to the Tantien.
In the final 30 minutes, he shifts the focus to meditation, which includes the Inner Smile meditation and Healing Sounds for the organs. The Inner Smile brings awareness to each organ in the body, their associated emotions and helps to heal and balance the organs on both a physical and emotional level. The healing sounds further develop this awareness, and greater balance and heal the organs. Lastly, some Tao Yin Yoga poses are practiced to open the lumbar and sacrum region and further facilitate the flow of chi throughout the body.
Yoga Tree community classes are on a drop-in basis. The cost is ¥1,500 per class.
